The Level 4 Award in Out of Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed to equip healthcare professionals, emergency responders and pre-hospital care providers with advanced lifesaving skills for emergency situations outside the hospital setting. Over one day, this course enhances participants’ ability to assess deteriorating patients, work effectively as part of a resuscitation team, manage cardiac arrest and a range of critical emergencies, and apply structured lifesaving protocols in out-of-hospital environments.
Scene management and incident assessment
Managing patients with life-threatening and non-life-threatening illness and injury
Airway management techniques
Immediate life support procedures and algorithms (including Return of Spontaneous Circulation (RoSC) and patient handovers)
Modifications for cardiac arrest in specific cases (e.g., third-trimester pregnancy, neck stoma)
Post-incident procedures
Use of the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) for patient assessment
Duration: 1-day course
Qualification: Level 4 Award in Out of Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support (RQF)
Certificate Validity: 1 year (refresher recommended annually)
