The Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (also known as FREC 3) is an in-depth, face-to-face prehospital emergency care qualification designed for people who may be first on scene in an emergency situation. Delivered over several days, this course goes beyond standard first aid training to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to assess and manage a wide range of medical and trauma emergencies in both workplace and public-facing environments. It’s ideal for first responders, event medics, security staff, and those progressing toward careers in emergency services.
The role and responsibilities of a first responder
Assessing an incident and making safe decisions
Wounds, burns, scalds and eye injuries
Adult and child CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use of an AED
Breathing difficulties and respiratory emergencies
Differentiating life-threatening vs non-life-threatening conditions
Anaphylaxis and allergy emergencies
Sudden poisoning and seizures
Stroke and major illness recognition
Asthma and other respiratory conditions
Head, spinal and musculoskeletal injuries
Duration: 5-day course
Certificate validity: 3 years
